V&A: Tim Walker - Wonderful Things
Ranging from garish pink house to ruined cathedral to aged plaster mansion, the over-200 different materials and finishes of Tim Walker: Wonderful Things made for one of FSL's most diverse projects to date. Unusually for an exhibition build project, there were two main creative voices in the design of Tim Walker: Wonderful Things - the set designer and the 3D setworks designer.
Following on from the involvement of the actual Tim Walker’s set designer Shona Heath in accompaniment to 3D designer Kit Stiby Harris, FSL contracted prop-makers and scenic artists Andy Knight Ltd., with whom Walker and Heath had a long and fruitful history, to achieve this feast of colours and textures, a rich and fitting testament to the photographer’s protean vision. Developing a workable scheme that could be installed in a very short time, this exhibition was an opportunity for Factory Settings to open up new modes of collaboration, and the result was a successfully managed incorporation of different voices, and a dynamic fusion of design intent.
